Before Your Surgery

At the time of your first consultation with Dr. Monash, you will be asked to fill out a patient registration form, if not done already. You will have a conversation with Dr. Monash regarding your health history, a brief physical examination, and a detailed discussion regarding your Bariatric Surgical options.
The goals for this visit will be to determine which procedure is the right one for you, and to plan your preoperative workup. In addition to risk assessment, Dr. Monash pays careful consideration to your own life experiences and your surgical weight-loss goals when helping to decide between the surgical options. He performs the Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, the Lap-Band®, and the Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy so that he may consistently find the right operation for you.
To help expedite your path to surgery, Dr. Monash will determine all of your preoperative workup requirements, and he will provide you with all of the appropriate referrals before you leave his office.
The next step will be to establish your payment options. Please refer to this page for additional information.
Once you have fulfilled the preoperative workup requirements, Dr. Monash will ask to see you one more time before surgery. This consultation will involve a detailed discussion regarding your hospital stay and postoperative instructions (including dietary guidelines and follow-up schedules). Please refer to the Patient Guidelines and Forms section for additional information.
Dr. Monash recommends that you bring a family member, friend, or anyone whom will serve as support for you to this office visit. Not only will he be delighted to answer your questions, he will make certain that you understand, and have the support that you need, for your postoperative journey. Dr. Monash strongly believes that a dedicated patient with a well-informed support system is the recipe for success!
